Full Job Description :-
The Manager, Public Affairs is responsible for the integration of work across the Communications and Public Affairs team as well as special projects including the opening of new attractions, community initiatives and national media events. The role works with multiple stakeholder groups across Walt Disney World and Disney Parks, Experiences and Products and focuses on the development of communication strategies that support business objectives and effectively engage internal and external audiences. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for Walt Disney World.
Act as primary integrator for the core team who develops and executes high-priority projects, press events and initiatives. Develop strong relationships with and drive work through the Public Relations, Communications and External Affairs teams in addition to others.
Serve as a consultant, influencer and strategic thought partner to teams, peers, leaders and business partners to help proactively shape strategic communications plans and support business objectives.
Lead creation of metrices leveraging scorecards, roadmaps, status updates, etc
Assist with special projects for internal and external audiences.
In support of the SVP, WDW Communications and Public Affairs, organize strategy meetings including team work sessions, project meetings, and creative brainstorm sessions. Help create and execute team recognition efforts to positively shape team culture.
Oversee management of budget, financial planning and headcount/other resource requests and allocation.
Handle communications planning and execution for Alliance projects at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Build internal and external relationships to help effectively deliver integrated communication strategies. Create presentations and write stories, social media posts, blogs and other materials as needed.
Basic Qualifications :
Ability to effectively and efficiently deliver results as part of a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience: this can include a mix of experience within an agency, corporate communications, public relations, public affairs or government communications role, with prior experience with issues management and handling confidential information.
Be available outside of traditional business hours and on weekends as needed to support special events.
Leadership competencies in the ability to influence and persuade, building relationships with partners and stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.
Must be able to think strategically, act consultatively, communicate effectively and manage projects. This role generates and executes creative ideas while managing costs and budgets.
Proven ability to be a self-starter develop high-quality work product in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with changing priorities and highly matrixed environment.
Experience using social media and current technologies to support, schedule and analyze successful social media campaigns.
Experience overseeing the development of communication and content for both internal and external audiences.
Strong writing skills
Must be able to develop impactful presentations.
Previous experience with The Walt Disney Company a plus
Graphic design experience
Prior experience developing and writing strategic communication plans
Video production and development
Required Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English/Creative Writing, Public Relations, Journalism or other related fields.
