The Job Opportunity and Duties…

Fiscal duties performed at facility commissary (i.e. Budgets and monitors expenditures for supplies, services, equipment and raw materials) supervises, plans, directs and coordinates all staff assignments.

Supervises the activities of the Penal Workshop Specialists of the commissary operation.

Acts as liaison between other departments and agencies
Works with private sector customers/vendors to develop partnerships.
Monitors inventory and make adjustments through production methods, equipment, and procedures.
Coordinates activities with institution staff, Deputy Wardens and OPI staff.
Apprises the Wardens, Deputy Warden of industry operations, new products, new programs and other needs, as directed.
Reviews purchase orders, inventory and follows Material Resource Planning (MRP) system policies and procedures, equipment requests and costs and pricing data.
Inputs data on MRP system to ensure adherence to schedules.
Prepares scheduled and requested reports as directed.
Projects production rates, new and replacement equipment needs and needed capital outlays.
Assures compliance with all regulation demands.
Maintains records and compliances, certifications, audits etc.
Assists in quality assurance, inventory, and cost control.
Monitors safety and training programs.
Attends meetings, trainings, and conferences
May give presentations and conduct training
Responds both verbally and in writing to questions and concerns.
Works on special projects and/or committees as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

3 yrs. trg. &/or 3 yrs. exp. in supervisory or crew leader capacity in manufacturing environment with responsibility for calculating cost of equipment & supplies for production jobs, drafting &/or modifying or reading blueprints & specifications, & familiarity with different manufacturing equipment & tools; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in use of personal computer to track inventory &/or customer orders.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Knowledge of budgeting; inventory control; management; workforce planning*; employee training & development*; supervisory principles & practices; safety practices*; public/customer relations;* penal industries & departmental policies concerning penal security; discipline & control;* drafting blueprints & specifications. Skill in use of personal computer; use of manufacturing equipment*. Ability to deal with many variables & determine specific action related to manufacturing production; calculate cost estimates for production jobs & materials involving fractions, decimals & percentages; originate instructions & specifications concerning use of equipment; develop good rapport with inmate workers.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is a tobacco-free workplace.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year. “Not applicable to current state employees”.
This position may be subject to Federal Alcohol. Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations that prohibit someone to carry, transport, or otherwise possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition from consuming marijuana, including medical marijuana.
