We are seeking to fill a Special Projects Coordinator position. The Special Projects Coordinator will be paid in the range of $35.32 – $52.97 per hour (D.O.E, knowledge, skills, and abilities)
The Position: Under general direction, plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines, and within budget. Includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
E=Essential Functions1. Develop and administer the department’s project portfolio.
2. Analyze and develop policies and procedures affecting the Authority’s ability to fund and deliver programs and services; advise department directors on policies which may involve long term impacts on residents, partners and the agency/department.
3. Provide recommendations for development of significant programs to senior management, and/or department directors.
4. Act as project manager for all or components of a variety of departmental or agency-wide projects:a. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.b. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.c. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.d. Recruit project members and define and assign roles and responsibilities.e. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.f. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
5. Establish departmental project management best practices and tools including scope, stakeholder engagement requirements gathering, process development, testing and project execution.
6. Develop and monitor performance metrics for a variety of projects and initiatives for all project phases, including ongoing implementation.
7. Facilitate, advise, prepare briefing materials, and present to department senior management, directors, and stakeholders on recommended projects.
8. Work towards equity and our agency’s goals around race and social justice.
9. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork and respect. Work respectfully and courteously with other employees, follow direction, and work well under pressure.
10. Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures. Monitor and enforce the agency’s Safety and Health Program, and actively support and participate in Emergency Preparedness tasks and program.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or related field required; however, four additional years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree.
EXPERIENCE: Three years related experience, preferably including at least two years’ direct Project Management experience
LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Washington Driver’s license with fully insurable driving record
