Description:
Providence St. Joseph is calling a Principal Business Intelligence Developer to location in Torrance, CA.
We are seeking Principal Business Intelligence Developer who will support the organization and its strategic affiliates by taking a leadership role in the development of meaningful reporting and analytic visualization solutions. This position will oversee the gathering of business needs and requirements documentation, provide guidance in identifying appropriate data sources, develop and update reporting objects, provide analysis, and deliver visualization solutions that business leaders can use to drive value. This position is also responsible for interpreting HI developed reporting and analytical solutions to help customers in gaining insight about their areas of accountability and in making strategic decisions.
The Principal BI Developer role is expected to serve as a strong mentor for less experienced analysts in the department to help them develop efficient ways of creating reporting and analytics solutions. This role works with a diverse set of stakeholders and is responsible for leading large reporting and analytics projects across multiple regions or stakeholder groups. This role will be accountable for the effective execution and delivery of projects and solutions while coordinating the resources assigned to these bodies of work. This position may be responsible for the development and implementation of semantic data layer objects, such as Business Objects Universes, data marts, and custom database objects (in coordination with Technical Solutions Analysts and Data Engineers), to support reporting and analytics solutions for the Ambulatory Care Network. Additionally, this position requires the creation of presentation layer objects like interactive reports, scorecards, and dashboards and may be responsible for leading development efforts. Additionally some project management, product management responsibilities may be required.
In this position, you will:

Provide high level analytic expertise for the development of complex reporting and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) solutions utilizing various tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Business Objects. Develop, implement and maintain data solutions utilizing appropriate software languages, including SQL, Business Objects, Toad, and emerging languages such as Python and Spark. Translate from functional requirements to technical specifications.
Work with a diverse set of leaders, customers, and stakeholders across the organization to understand, document and outline specific requests for work. Demonstrate an open willingness to listen and learn clinical or business needs, then develop solutions of excellent quality (as measured by performance, data integrity, following HI coding standards). These solutions should also provide complex and integrated answers to a suite of questions.
Design, Model, Develop, and deploy solutions (applications and technologies which are used to acquire, transform, model, analyze and report information) for end-to-end analytics utilizing tools including Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Power BI, and other related BI tools.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting and analytical solutions, processes and practices utilizing standard methodologies across HI.
Provide guidance, coordination and assignment for ACN resources assigned to projects or bodies of work relevant to the accountabilities and responsibilities of the analyst.
Participation in BI solution design to support business and/or clinical operations and programs utilizing latest technologies and standard HI methodologies.
Communicate and escalate major issues promptly to ACN management, HI partners, team members, customers as appropriate.
Resolve production problems and issues through root cause analysis, data investigation, QA and testing.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Services or equivalent educ/experience
10 or more years Healthcare Business Intelligence or related field specific to Business Intelligence
10 or more years Utilization of reporting and analytic tools and techniques
Proven experience in leading cross function teams, coordinating resources, setting timelines and deliverables for successful completion of project work
Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Tableau

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Services or equivalent educ/experience
