GENERAL DESCRIPTION Performs complex analytical support to the Law Enforcement Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, data entry, and analytical support work. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists with the identification of suspects, victims, and witnesses Accesses and research various specialized databases for intelligence investigations Accesses and research vehicle registration information on suspects, victims, and witnesses Accesses and research driver’s license and criminal history information Accesses and researches the Texas Department of Public Safety’s databases for suspect and other intelligence information Accesses social media sites to locate victims and suspects by using information posted as a tool to find relatives, locations, status updates, and other posted materials Acts as the State Assistant FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) Coordinator Accesses and research employment information on suspects, victims, and witnesses Develops effective working relationships with applicable local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies Prepares written and statistical reports, and memorandum to document investigative activity Performs related work as assigned Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice or closely related field; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: administrative, investigations, law enforcement, military, or security Experience: Two years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: administrative, investigations, law enforcement, military, or security Knowledge of security rules and procedures Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines Skill in effective oral and written communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice or a related degree; experience and education may be substituted for one another Knowledge: TCIC/NCIC, TLETS/NLETS, CLERIS, FUGINET, FinCEN &CBRS Applications Skill in researching and interpreting complex rules and regulations; in applying investigative techniques and procedures to assigned cases; and in the use of a computer and applicable software Ability to react quickly and remain calm during an emergency situation, and handle stressful situations in a professional manner Certifications: TCIC/ NCIC, TLETS Operator certificate Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish
