Job Summary:
The community impact coordinator, sport participation & growth, will support the development, implementation, and progression of youth baseball and softball programs for the Detroit Tigers. The primary focus will be toward planning, organizing, and implementing exceptional grassroots and community sport programming efforts in Detroit and across the state of Michigan.
Key Responsibilities / Skill Requirements:
Support the administration of youth baseball and softball programming for the Detroit Tigers while maintaining accountability for its design, operation, and evaluation.
Assist with the research, development, execution, and evaluation of youth sport participation programming focused on growing baseball and softball locally and supporting League-generated game growth initiatives.
Build upon current grassroots and community programming (e.g. Tiny Tigers; Play Baseball Detroit) to continue developing groundbreaking youth baseball and softball growth efforts for the Tigers with an emphasis on engaging underrepresented audiences.
Support the establishment of free and fee-based camps and clinics that provide a wide range of at-scale opportunities for children to experience baseball and softball in Detroit and across Michigan.
Ability to foster collaboration and productive partnerships with a broad range of individuals, both within and outside the organization.
Work with the creative, marketing, and communications teams to effectively brand, market and communicate youth sport participation and growth activities and programming.
Maintain effective working relationships and communications with colleagues, baseball and softball facility managers, corporate partners, parents, program alumni and the local community regarding sport participation and growth programming.
Support fundraising goals and strategies for youth baseball and softball growth efforts.
Support oversight of youth baseball and softball programming budget, including all purchase orders, invoices, and expense reports.
Be a positive presence in the community among individuals and corporations through participation in both internal and external events.
Support the collective community impact group as needed (outreach and engagement / fundraising and development).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Recreational Management, or Sports Management preferred.
Previous youth sport programming experience.
Evidence of solid communication skills through verbal, written and telephonic channels.
Ability to demonstrate computer proficiency.
Experience with LeagueApps, Word mail merge, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Proven record of supporting athletic program development, including experience with executing youth camps, clinics, and experiences.
Ability to produce deadline-driven material with a high attention to detail and confidentiality.
Strong emphasis on analytic, strategic, communications, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to foster collaboration and productive partnerships with a broad range of individuals, both within and outside the organization.
A valid driver’s license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience working in professional baseball and/or softball.
Ability to excel in a mastery-oriented environment.
Working Conditions:
Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Exposure to moderate – high noise level
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Frequent visual/auditory attention
Many events occur outdoors or in cold environments (e.g. baseball fields and ice rinks)
