SALARY RANGE: $3,120 – $3,829
PAY BASIS: Monthly

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT:

POSITION PURPOSE: This position will supply moderately complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative support to the University Police Department. This position requires knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and function in a variety of organizational structures; the ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing; and the willingness to learn new office equipment and software packages. Typically, this position requires interaction with all levels of staff. Most of the day-to-day administrative and clerical tasks are performed with general instructions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Duties:

Assist in performing LiveScan, processing documents and records.

Support for event reviews.

Time Keeping, maintaining files & records.

Admin support

Other Job Duties:

Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Attend training and maintain skill currency as appropriate to safely and effectively complete assignments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – Requires a High School diploma or GED and one (1) of recent (within 3 years) experience of general office clerical work. Also requires experience and competence in using a variety of office support technology and systems including one or more word processing and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKA’s) –

Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills: ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
Excellent computer skills and competence with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working in a higher education setting.
Experience using a database management system.
Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK – involves mainly sitting; minimal walking and standing; lifting light weight objects limited to 15 pounds.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training, experience, and interest in the position.
